C5 GORE-TEX SHAKEDRY™ 1985 Jacket

Technology Overview

GORE-TEX SHAKEDRY™

Like all GORE-TEX products, garments made with GORE-TEX SHAKEDRY™ are durably waterproof, totally windproof, extremely breathable, and come with the GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY™ promise.

What makes GORE-TEX SHAKEDRY™ unique is the persistent beading surface which means water simply beads up and runs right off the jacket. A few shakes removes almost all water. These products are also as light and packable as it gets.

Schwarz

Gibt es nur in Schwarz. Das ist für eine Regenjacke die komplett falsche Farbe. Gefährlich!

Highly recommend

Used it tour the palm spring coz so windy and it works! Yes they run big but I like that way I can still use jersey inside, I even used it to work during rainy days. I prolly buy another pair but this time going small.

Best 2 in 1 packable windbreaker rain jacket

This is replacing my Rapha Brevet windbreaker and Rapha Core rain jacket. While the Rapha jackets on paper seem great my issues with them stem from fit, breathability, and performance. The Rapha Brevet windbreaker while lighter than the Gore Shake Dry C5 has an insanely long tail and arm lengths at my usually size and it doesn't have two way zippers, no vents, and really doesn't have a true pocket. I will say the Brevet line is more colorful and offers more distinct reflective elements and is more packable since it literally can be stowed away in it's own pocket, but this "pocket" is insanely tiny and really meant for stowing your jacket and not holding objects. Where the C5 Shake Dry surpasses the Brevet is that it does have a two way zipper, it has wrist gaskets, adjustable color, and the fit length wise and arm wise is much better in a XS (I am 5'5") with having enough room to circulate air and layer underneath while not being baggy. The Brevet windbreaker was so unbreathable I would be dripping with sweat even on colder rides, thus when I cooled down I was even colder. The Rapha Core II rain jacket is a Nylon 2.5 layer fabric with a nice YKK zipper but the jacket doesn't have nearly the water proofing Shake Dry does and will start to wet out and the zipper while high quality is only a one way zipper. Now this might not seem like an issue for some especially if you aren't cycling through a downpour but the problem like a lot of the basic Rapha stuff is that is simply doesn't breathe whatsoever. The Rapha Core II rain jacket does have tiny pit holes to allow some venting but the lack of pit zips or a two way zipper and relying on a Nylon shell again creates this sweaty bag effect. The jacket has zero pockets and the position of the arm holes is really high where it digs into my pits. This is all to say the Shake Dry C5 fits much better, breathes much better, and doesn't wet out whatsoever. Whether you compare MSRP or sale prices, the two Rapha jacket equal what a C5 Shake Dry would cost, so while in my opinion the all black look of Shake Dry is boring, having one amazing jacket that does the job of 2 jackets is a better buy.

Very Nice Shell

Checks all the boxes: lightweight, compact, keeps the rain out; best cycling rain shell I have owned to date. Only downside is that the zipper can be a bit finicky, but that seems true for most lightweight zippers.
