Flowers Jersey: Hanna from RAD RACE Shares the Story
She’s new to the RAD RACE crew but already making waves. Hanna is the designer behind two very special jerseys for GOREWEAR — the GOREWEAR x RAD RACE 2025 Jersey and the fresh drop: SPINSHIFT FLOWERS by RAD RACE. Bold, soft, loud, and full of summer energy – the floral jersey is made to stand out in the bunch.
But Hanna isn’t just a designer – she’s a cyclist, a creative mind, and someone who’s bringing new energy to the world of performance apparel. We sat down with her to talk about her path to RAD RACE, the inspiration behind the floral design, and what it’s like to ride in your own creation.
Let’s start at the beginning …
Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from, and how did you end up riding bikes and designing kits?
I’m originally from Hannover, studied Design Management in Berlin, and I’ve always had a soft spot for fashion — but more in my own unconventional way. Loud, cheeky, radical — that’s me, and that’s exactly what you see reflected in my creative work.
After a few stops in marketing and events, I trained as a graphic designer at an agency and now landed my dream job at RAD RACE.
About six years ago, I got into cycling through my dad. I love riding my road bike — a quick spin after work or, on weekends, sometimes to the sea or even on vacation with my bike in tow.
Honestly, I never thought I’d be designing jerseys a year ago. So it’s even cooler to be part of this community now — especially since it’s still very male-dominated. I believe we urgently need more women in cycling, not just on the bike but behind the scenes as well. As a feminist, it’s especially important to me to be visible and encourage other women to join in.

You recently joined RAD RACE – what’s your role there, and how did that happen?
Last year, I felt a bit lost in my previous job and was looking for something more meaningful. What does that even mean? For me, it was clear: cycling and design … and where could I combine that? There was only one answer for me. The very next day, I slid into RAD RACE’s Instagram DMs. Ingo didn’t hesitate and hired me. Thanks again for that!
Now I’m the Art Director, so I handle everything design and graphics-related. That includes not just jersey designs but also the editorial design for our print magazine RAD TIMES, merch and stickers, event branding, social media, and occasionally some organizational stuff. And very importantly: drinking lots of our own Alrighty coffee — can’t function without it!
If you had to describe working at RAD RACE in three words, what would they be – and why?
WILD, FAST & CURIOUS
There’s always something happening at RAD RACE — usually all at once! Every day brings new ideas, crazy projects, and lots of pace. But we always stay curious, turn things upside down sometimes, and try out new things. That’s what makes it special for me: It’s loud, fast, and never boring — yet there’s a lot of love for detail and the community everywhere.
About your work — and the jerseys…
You’ve already created two kits for GOREWEAR – the GOREWEAR x RAD RACE 2025 jersey and now the SPINSHIFT FLOWERS by RAD RACE jersey. What’s your design process like?
My design process starts in my head — or more precisely, it never really stops. I constantly notice beautiful things around me that fascinate me: the sun reflecting on water, leaves swaying in the wind, light shining through stained glass, or flowers pushing through cracks in the concrete. Sounds cheesy — and it is! But I find nature’s beauty truly impressive. Being outside and cycling is definitely my number one source of inspiration!
Designing a jersey like this had been a longtime wish of mine because I usually felt something was missing — especially color! Once I had the first idea, I jumped straight into the workflow. I experimented with many colors, different types and shapes of flowers. The pixel effect and the scaling of the flowers were very important because I wanted the jersey to stand out even from a distance.
Thanks to amazing collaboration with Saskia and Jürgen from the GOREWEAR product team, the jersey came together much faster than I expected! I was honestly speechless when I held the jersey in my hands just eight weeks after we started. Such a crazy feeling!

What’s the story behind the floral pattern and the warm colors of the SPINSHIFT FLOWERS jersey?
For the Flower Jersey, I wanted to create something that captures a very specific summer vibe. Everyone has their own idea of summer. I wanted to convey a shared feeling of “finally long rides again, ice cream, sunscreen, swimming, and picking flowers on the way home.”
You’re not just designing for cyclists – you are one yourself. How does it feel to ride in something you created? And how do you hope others feel when they wear it?
Wearing something I designed connects me even more deeply with what I do. I hope others feel just as comfortable, confident, and maybe a little empowered when they wear it.
I’m very grateful and proud of the cooperation with GOREWEAR and excited to see what comes next!

With your designs, how do you want to shake things up in the cycling apparel world. What do you think is still missing out there?
Definitely more courage! The apparel world feels a bit sleepy right now. Everything I see is so clean and minimal — and that annoys me. I want more pop and sparkle. I want to bring fresh energy, break rules, and show that performance clothing can be loud, too.
And finally… let’s wrap it up with some fun facts.
• Long rides or short, fast intervals – what’s more your thing? Anything’s fine as long as there’s coffee and cake afterward.
• Music in your ears or wind only? I love listening to music or podcasts on long rides (but always quietly — safety first). Otherwise, chatting with others is cool too!
• Go-to post-ride snack? Honestly, I’m classic — pasta in any form!
• Most random item in your saddlebag? Bepanthen. Always have to have that with me.
• Favorite GOREWEAR product – besides jerseys ;) ? Definitely the Distance bib shorts — the comfort is out of this world!
• Any fun, weird, or totally unexpected moments on a ride you’ll never forget? Riding at 4 a.m. in Finland into the sunrise, knowing we still had 200 km ahead of us.
