The GORE ® WINDSTOPPER® membrane is an ultra thin protective layer which is laminated to a lightweight textile layer, making it totally windproof. It is made of the versatile polymer PTFE (polytetrafluorethylene) which is expanded to create a microporous structure. These micropores are 900 times larger than water vapor molecules, allowing perspiration to pass through unhindered.

The totally windproof, yet extremely breathable membrane blocks the wind and allows vapor to escape. This combination of protection and breathability minimizes the wind’s chilling effect while reducing the risk of overheating when you are active. A durable outer fabric treatment provides you additional protection of water repellency.

    C5 GORE® WINDSTOPPER® Insulated Overshoes is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as old model I used these once so far and they are warm but still not as good as the previous iteration: *A little baggy as an overshoe, not as aero *No velcro at top of zipper to secure zipper *Less snug overall

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The warmest I've found... The Kevlar perimeter is about as good as you can expect for wear resistance around the outsole of the shoe. If you ride in winter conditions (sub 30 degrees) for more than two hours, you'll understand that tight bike shoe covers hinder circulation and impede breathability. Feet sweat a lot, and tight covers are cold on longer rides! These covers strike a nice balance of not over compressing the feet and they are completely wind proof. Thicker insulation across the top of the toes would be recommended. I have a Bontrager cycling shoe 42.5 and the Large barely fits. Why use zippers on a shoe cover? For thos of us that ride daily we know zippers ALWAYS fail... Especially on a shoe cover that is tight. Also, never had a problem with these hindering or rubbing crank arms while riding??

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What are you thinking The previous generation GoreTex insulated shoe cover was one of my favorite pieces of cycling garment. It was almost perfect. Long cuff, plenty warm and the Velcro closure made it so easy to get on and off. The new one is worse in every possible way. It is Windstopper, not GoreTex, so it can get wet. It is significantly shorter and not as warm. The Zipper is way worse than the Velcro. The zipper broke in less than a season. I really cannot understand the rational behind the redesign, unless it is about cutting corners and cutting cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great winter overshoes but largest size runs small Bought a pair 2 months ago and wear US size 14 shoes, the largest size is listed as 13-15 and they just barely fit my size 14 shoes, which is contrary to the rest of the reviews here saying they run big. They are very warm though and unlike most overshoes, work well with flat pedals as well as clipless pedals. I've even used them during a ride when it was -10f out, kept my toes warm in my normal hiking/biking shoes, no heatpack needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Could be improved! Great product, that keeps your feet warm and dry! BUT: Overshoes need to sit tight!! Otherwise they rub on the crank every time you turn the pedal.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from UNIVERSAL GORE® WINDSTOPPER® INSULATED OVERSHOES Great great functionality. Really mediocre design. Great usability. Average size fit - runs really large. There's no way you can win any style points with this product and that is such an important aspect of modern cycling.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overshoes There are dry and warm but the fitting is way to big. So they look a little clumsy and when you ride they touch the crank arms.
