My new go-to cold weather running jacket

This jacket weighs almost nothing, it’s very light and unobtrusive to wear. So light I was a little worried it was too thin to be effective. I actually ordered the slightly more insulated Infinium and hooded version of this jacket at the same time because of that fear but have yet to wear it because I love this one. It cuts the wind and add just the right amount of warmth without a big risk of overheating. I’ve run in this from 0-40 F, just varying what I wear underneath, and it’s been great so far; nice to have a dependable layer and not have to debate too much on which to pick when preparing for a run. Only downside so far is that for longer/harder efforts, if there is a lot of sweat, it doesn’t vent quite as much as I’d like. Better than the alternatives I’ve tried so far though. 5’ 6”, 128 lbs, XS fits me perfectly.

so far so good

I ordered this in prep for a brutal cold snap. Gore took 12 days to deliver so the weather warmed up by the time I got it! That said, I just ran in 38 degree rain and wind, with only a cotton t-shirt underneath. Perfectly warm. Previously on a 40 degree run with no wind/run I was way too warm wearing a t-shirt underneath. I hope we get a few more days of real bad weather so I can keep testing. 6'0", 185, Size L fits fine.

Perfect for temps ranging from

Perfect for temps ranging from 25 - 45 F in Houston,TX. I pair with running tights low 40s but shorts above that when not windy. In high 40s and above gets a bit warm while active which is key. Im’m contemplating the R5 however not sure I need it with this awesome lightweight semi insulated jacket.
