GOREWEAR x PIT VIPER: When Performance Meets Party

Sometimes collaborations start in unexpected ways. We’ve always found Pit Viper pretty cool — so we reached out. One thing led to another, and soon we were running a joint project: testing GOREWEAR’s cutting-edge running gear and Pit Viper’s eyewear in our U.S. Biophysics Lab. Two athletes, a treadmill, all the elements (plus a few surprise extras)… and the results? Let’s just say, they set the stage for something big.

Curious how it all went — and what’s next? Our Marketing Lead Ben Blakesley (GOREWEAR) and Partnership Manager Kai Seggar (Pit Viper) spill the details.

How did the collaboration between Pit Viper and GOREWEAR come about?

Ben: We’ve always admired Pit Viper’s bold style and energy. We thought: wouldn’t it be fun to combine their statement eyewear with our technical performance apparel? When we reached out, it just clicked.

What values or mindset do you feel both brands share?

Ben: At GOREWEAR, we’re obsessed with pushing boundaries in performance. Pit Viper brings the same fearless mindset — just with a wilder edge.

Kai:  Both Pit Viper and GOREWEAR hold their products to the same high standard - performance without compromise, and style without limits. Bringing the two together just made sense.

Tell us more about the testing of GOREWEAR and Pit Viper products in the Biophysics Lab.

Ben: We wanted Kai and the team to really see what our apparel can do. So we brought in two experienced and versatile athletes — Mali and Sam — suited them up with our running gear, and equipped them with Pit Viper’s Skysurfer Extreme sunnies. Then the fun began.

We had them run on treadmills while changing the environment: wind, heat, snow, and rain. We even threw in cheeseballs and popcorn… just to make sure they could handle every condition.

Which products did you test?

Kai: We wanted to put our eyewear to the test and the Biophysics lab proved to be the perfect grounds to do that. First up was the new Skysurfer Extreme, an aggressive blade-style lens built to perform in all conditions. Then came the tried and true Original 2.0’s, equipped with Z87+ safety lenses for ultimate blocking performance. Both pairs delivered top tier clarity and blocking power, even in the harshest conditions. 

Ben: On the apparel side, we matched the elements:

• Cold & snow: CONCURVE WINDSTOPPER® Insulated Jacket, GORE-TEX insulated gloves, and CONCURVE 2.0 thermo tights

• Rain: CONCURVE GORE-TEX waterproof running jacket

• Heat: EVERYDAY crop top and long sleeve shirt, CONTEST 2.0 tee, and CONTEST shorts

Did anything surprising come out of the testing phase?

Kai: Going into testing, both Ben and I knew that our products would withstand anything we threw at them - no surprise there. I will say, seeing is believing. It was a special experience to see these products that both Pit Viper and GOREWEAR have put so much development into pass with flying colors. 

You’re launching a co-branded product soon. Can you tell us more?

Kai: I can't say too much, but Pit Viper is excited for the opportunity to strengthen this partnership with GOREWEAR through a co-branded product built on the foundation of both brands - style and performance.
